there was no real reason i named this post after a sue sylvester quote, just missing her...
what is your process of making a playlist?
i used to take my sweet time making a playlist. i strayed away from this for a while when i got into just listening to an album top to bottom. but there is something so wonderful about taking the time to curate a playlist to an exact feeling or moment. it's like a time capsule, and they are so fun to go back and relive.
my recipe for making a good playlist:
a starter song that triggered the instinct to turn this into a full playlist
an emotion that you are chasing with this playlist or a memory you are encapsulating
an hour of time devoted to the process
a space to listen to each song through before adding
must be done on a computer!!!
dig through old playlists, liked songs, and other playlists you find to dump anything that might match the vibe
a title that doesn't make sense to anyone but you OR is completely obvious
a caption to describe the feelings this playlist should convey
a photo to tie it all together, personal or from a deep search on pinterest
finally, go through it and put it in a certain order if needed or weed out anything that might feel off
i want to set aside time to make more playlists in the new year. i took my computer to a coffee shop to intentionally make new playlists. i sat and ate a snickerdoodle pancake, drank my latte & channeled my 17-yr old self that did this on the daily.
here is the most recent playlist i am proud of:
it is meant to be played when it is gloomy outside, there are no errands left to run, and you are just thankful to be in your home, watering the plants. alone or with someone you love, you choose!
make a playlist! it is fun and creative and a good way to pass the time! it can be dumb and silly or serious and sad or totally random. you will have it to look back on in years to come and be thankful that you did.
& that's how sue (and me) c's it!
