hi hi hi!
i've been confined to my apartment the past two days with a sore throat & fever. music has filled the apartment, and i thought i would write about a few things i've been listening to as of late!
ethel cain. like, non-stop. in a way where it's ruining my mood most nights because it's just so devastating. her storytelling is unmatched, and her vocals take you into her world so effortlessly. my favorites right now are dust bowl, fuck me eyes, hard times, and NETTLES. nettles is 8 minutes long, but i wish it was 8 hours. i would listen and sink into every second of it. crush just came on shuffle also and wow wow wow. can you read my mind? i've been watching you???? HELLO???
this morning i started with B.O.M.D. by Clairo and then let spotify take over. it played a bunch of clairo features i hadn't heard before. i've been obsessed with her song anticipate with El Michels Affair. i'm a huge fan of all of shelly's songs as well. one i found this morning was you got time and i got money with Smerz, Clairo, and VVTZJ. classic, perfect, cozy, sexy.
oh my god! how could i forget! you look pretty sad for a girl so in love. oh my goddd. i think this is her best album. i LOVED sour, but her voice, writing, and the production on this album are everything. it also breaks out of her original sound while somehow sounding even more like her, if that makes sense? i think i have listened to cigarette smoke 100 times. i also adore purple, less, begged, the cure, expectations, and maggots for brains!!!
talking to the driver by ruel: i used to listen to ruel a lot in 2018 but haven't really kept up with him. his latest album has been thrown into all of my mixes. i think my phone has been listening to me since one of my favorite podcasters works with him. i added a few songs from the album to my liked songs, but talking to the driver has been playing on a loop in the back of my mind.
devon again — every single song, but especially never goes away. her voice scratches a certain itch in my brain.
RYAN BEATTY. his lyrics are incomparable. his new album sweet fortune is perfect front-to-back. i'm about to go buy it on vinyl. virtuoso reminds me of summertime in NC and i love the clairo features.
ok so i actually am posting this a month after i started writing it.... so i'm not sick anymore but olivia rodrigo has still been on repeat. talk soon.
