a need for more

hi! been a minute!
i’ve been in a bit of a music rut lately—listening to the same things over and over. feeling an intense need for new music. so intense, in fact, that i posted on LinkedIn asking for music recs. could i be more desperate?
the weather’s been warming up here in nc, and that’s pushed me down a bon iver / folk rabbit hole. i love folk music, but i honestly don’t listen to it nearly as much as i should. growing up near the blue ridge mountains, i always adored doing day trips on the parkway, windows down, indie folk playing. i miss it often.
while shuffling a bon iver mix, i stumbled on rachel chinouriri’s new music—which led me to an olivia dean song from the bridget jones soundtrack. so random. but the song is beautiful, and it inspired me to start a new spotify playlist for this season.
making playlists is very sacred to me. i usually curate them to match an exact feeling in my mind. sometimes that means getting irrationally frustrated if a song isn’t “warm summer day, windows down, watering my plants” enough to make the cut. but today, i let that go. i’m slowly digging myself out of the music rut (and a life rut).
the playlist is called happy accidents. i didn’t mean to find that olivia dean song from the bridget jones soundtrack—but i’m glad i did. every song here is a recent find, and they all feel like a fresh start. exactly what i needed.
